Marina Umaschi Bers

Professor at Tufts University, Developer of the Kibo and Code robots, and of ScratchJR, Boston, MA (USA).

Marina Umaschi Bers is Professor and Chair of the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Studies and Human Development and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Tufts University. She directs the interdisciplinary research group of Development Technologies. Her research involves the design and study of innovative learning technologies to promote positive child development.

She also created and directs the Early Childhood Technology graduate program at Tufts University. Marina was born in Argentina, where she completed her undergraduate studies in Social Communication at the University of Buenos Aires. In 1994 he traveled to the USA, where he completed a Master’s in Educational Media and Technology at Boston University and a Master’s of Science and Ph.D. at MIT MediaLab collaborating with Seymour Papert.
