Joan Guinovart Cirera is Emeritus Professor (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) at the University of Barcelona and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine, IRB Barcelona, ​​​​of which he was Founding Director between 2005 and 2018, with research activity focused on the study of metabolism of glycogen and its alterations in diabetes and Lafora’s diseaseAcademician He is currently academic director of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST).
